Karen Dodd
Karen Dodd is a native of Carteret County. Dodd retired from her successful financial planning practice in 1997 to move aboard her boat to cruise the waters between Baltimore and the Florida Keys. She’s a former educator - served as teacher, assistant principal, supervisor, and an ECU faculty member.
Three of her earlier books: Carolina Comfort, Carolina Comfort II and Down East on Nelson Island won the Paul Green Multi-Media, the Willie Parker Peace History Book awards and North Carolina History Awards. She also won other awards including a Robert Ruark and a Maggie award for her mystery novel and short story. Her romance, Shifting Sands and Begin Again Quinn and the New Bern trilogy – Riverwalk Mysteries take readers on a get acquaintance journey of coastal NC towns. The mysteries remind readers of the former “Murder She Wrote” television series, but instead of a coastal New England town, they take place here in New Bern. Due to a minor stroke several years ago, Dodd no longer writes novels. She started quilting, but words kept hopping around in her head. Each quilt has a theme delivered by the colors, designs and words. “I now write quilts!” Visit the Greater Good Gallery to read and admire her New Bern mysteries and quilts. Recently, Dodd met with neighbors of New Bern and tourists during her book signing at Greater Good Gallery, read more, http://www.greatergoodgallery.com/1/post/2013/07/new-berns-authors-at-greater-good-gallery-seek-to-inspire-future-writers-during-book-signing-week.html |
