James Herring
Artist, Oil Painting, Acrylic Painting, En Plein Air, Pastels, Charcoal

"I grew up on an eastern North Carolina farm, where I developed the ability to draw and a passion for pictures. While earning a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Painting at East Carolina University, I gained skills, knowledge, and a broad interest in the Arts.  While living in Atlanta, Georgia, I showed my work at the Ariel Gallery and participated in the Annual Dogwood Festival Art Show." - James Herring

"Today, living in New Bern, NC, I continue making pictures in acrylic, watercolor, charcoal, graphite, and oil pastels. I am a painter.  A painting or drawing is not a static thing. It grows and changes from conception to completion. Seeing a picture evolve is thrilling." - James Herring

James is often at Greater Good Gallery en plein air with his easel each Saturday. He converses with tourists who are charmed with his reprentations of New Bern's downtown architecture.
