Chris Munyan
Chris Munyan cannot remember a time when art didn’t play a large role in her life. Her earliest memory from her childhood in post-war Germany was her joy at receiving a rare watercolor box for Christmas. She has continued to paint and create other forms of art for most of her life. It is only in recent years, after retirement, that Chris has been able to fulfill her goal of becoming a full-time artist. She worked for many years as a technical illustrator, editor, and writer.
Ms. Munyan received her formal art training at the Corcoran School of Art in Washington, DC, the Art League in Alexandria, VA, and St. John’s College in Annapolis, MD. She has also studied privately with nationally known watercolor artists such as Skip Lawrence and Frank Webb. She holds degrees in English and Liberal Arts from the University of Maryland and Johns Hopkins University. Chris works primarily in watercolors, but also dabbles in the fields of acrylic, pastels, and collage. She was a member of the Annapolis Watercolor Club for over 15 years, prior to moving to Virginia and becoming associated with the Prince William and Manassas Art Societies and the Workhouse Art Guild in Lorton. Chris splits her time between her home in Woodbridge, VA and a home in New Bern, NC, where she is a member of the Carteret County Council of Art, the Beaufort County Art League, and the Twin Rivers Art Association in New Bern. Her work has recently been displayed in many shows in both states. |
